Minister Camille Receives Courtesy Call from Japanese Ambassador

The Minister for Homeland Security and Civil Affairs, Mr. James Camille, received a courtesy call from H.E. Mr. Sakuta Makoto, Resident Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Seychelles.
 
The meeting reaffirmed the strong and longstanding bilateral relations between Seychelles and Japan and provided an opportunity to exchange views on key areas of cooperation in the security sector. Discussions focused on Japan’s continued assistance to Seychelles, particularly in relation to the construction of the Marine Police and Anti-Narcotics Police Headquarters, a significant project aimed at strengthening national law enforcement capacity.
 
The two parties also discussed the importance of community policing as a means of enhancing public trust, improving crime prevention and fostering closer collaboration between law enforcement agencies and communities. In addition, maritime cooperation featured prominently, with emphasis on safeguarding maritime domains and strengthening collaborative efforts to address shared maritime security challenges.
 
The courtesy call underscored the shared commitment of Seychelles and Japan to strengthening cooperation in homeland security and advancing initiatives that contribute to safety, stability, and sustainable development.
