SEYCHELLES PARTICIPATES IN THE 26TH EXTRAORDINARY SESSION OF THE AFRICAN UNION EXECUTIVE COUNCIL

The Minister for Homeland Security and Civil Affairs, Mr. James Camille, participated in the 26th Extraordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union, held on 29 August 2026 in Luanda, Angola.

 

The Extraordinary Session was convened in preparation for the 21st Extraordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union, which is dedicated to the theme: “Strengthening Mechanisms for the Prevention and Resolution of Conflicts in Africa.”

 

The meeting brought together representatives of African Union Member States to deliberate on key issues relating to conflict prevention, peacebuilding and sustainable security across the continent. Discussions focused on strengthening existing African Union mechanisms, enhancing political commitment to early warning and early action, recalibrating the African Union’s Conflict Prevention Framework, reinforcing the role of the Peace and Security Council, and strengthening coordination and partnerships for lasting peace and stability in Africa.

Seychelles’ participation reaffirms its commitment to the objectives and principles of the African Union and its continued support for initiatives that promote peace, security and stability across the continent.

 

Minister Camille is accompanied by Ms. Michelle Sabury, Executive Director in the Ministry of Homeland Security and Civil Affairs; Ms. Trisha Hoareau, Second Secretary at the Embassy of Seychelles in Ethiopia; and Mr. Mohamad Amine Bashir, Acting Honorary Consul of Seychelles in Angola.
