The Minister for Homeland Security and Civil Affairs Mr. James Camille, last week welcomed Mr. Koen Marquering, Deputy Regional Representative for Eastern Africa, Ms. Olga Kogay, Global Maritime Crime Programme’s Regional Programme Coordinator for the Western Indian Ocean and Ms. Becky Adiele, Project Support Officer, UNODC Global Maritime Crime Programme , for a courtesy call with the Ministry.
The discussions focused on enhancing collaboration, diversifying training opportunities and building on the strong relationships already established between Seychelles and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
Seychelles and UNODC have maintained a longstanding partnership, with cooperation over the years supporting capacity building, specialised training, technical assistance and efforts to combat maritime crime and piracy in the Western Indian Ocean.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to explore new areas of cooperation and strengthen support for Seychelles’ national security and law enforcement priorities.
The Ministry values its continued partnership with UNODC and looks forward to further strengthening this important relationship through knowledge-sharing, capacity development and continued cooperation.
