DEA, RCOC and RMIFC Formalise Strategic Partnership to Strengthen Maritime Security in the Western Indian Ocean

Today, the United States Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Regional Coordination Operations Centre (RCOC) and the Regional Maritime Information Fusion Centre (RMIFC) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation aimed at enhancing cooperation in the fight against illicit narcotics trafficking and other maritime security threats across the Western Indian Ocean region.

 

The agreement will strengthen information sharing, operational coordination, capacity building and professional collaboration among the partners, further contributing to regional safety and security.The ceremony featured remarks from Captain Alex Ralaiarivony, Director of RMIFC; Major Gerald Wong-Pool, Director of RCOC; and Mr. Adham Loufti, Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy in Seychelles.

 

Among the distinguished guests in attendance were the Minister for Homeland Security and Civil Affairs, Mr. James Camille; the Attorney General, Mr. Vinsent Perera; and the Principal Secretary for Homeland Security, Ms. Sheryl Vengadasamy. This partnership marks another important step towards strengthening collective efforts to combat transnational organised crime, enhance maritime domain awareness and safeguard our shared maritime space.
