Presidential Visit to Seychelles Police Public Order and Tactical Response Unit(POTRU) & Dog Unit
This afternoon, the President of the Republic, Dr. Patrick Herminie, visited the Public Order and Tactical Response Unit (POTRU) and the Police Dog Unit. The visit aimed to familiarise the President with the operations of these specialised units and to gain insight into their operational needs.
The President was welcomed by the Minister for Homeland Security and Civil Affairs, Mr. James Camille, Acting Commissioner of Police Mr. Godfra Hermitte, Principal Secretary for Homeland Security Ms. Sheryl Vengadasamy, along with senior officers of the Seychelles Police Force.
During the visit, the President received a briefing from the Deputy Commander of POTRU, Assistant Superintendent Vincent Marie, who outlined the unit’s roles, capabilities, and ongoing operational priorities. The President also had the opportunity to meet with officers and personnel from both units, acknowledging their dedication and commitment to safeguarding our nation.
The engagement provided an important opportunity to strengthen dialogue between leadership and frontline officers while highlighting the critical work carried out by these specialised units within the Seychelles Police Force in ensuring the safety and security of Seychelles.
