Courtesy Call Highlights Strong Seychelles–U.S. Partnership

The Minister for Homeland Security and Civil Affairs, Mr. James Camille, received a courtesy call from H.E. Mr. Henry Jardine, Ambassador of the United States of America to the Republic of Seychelles.
 
The meeting reaffirmed the strong bilateral relations between Seychelles and the United States and provided an opportunity to exchange views on areas of mutual interest, particularly in the fields of security and capacity building. Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in maritime security, including efforts to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, narcotics trafficking and piracy, as well as enhancing collaboration in law enforcement to address cybercrime, the misuse of cryptocurrencies, intelligence sharing and transnational crime.
 
Both parties also underscored the importance of continued capacity building through training and professional development programmes for police officers, prison officials and other government personnel. Key initiatives such as Cutlass Express, the International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) were highlighted as important platforms for sustained engagement and cooperation.
 
The courtesy call reflected the shared commitment of Seychelles and the United States to regional security, stability and ongoing bilateral collaboration.

Minister Camille Continues Familiarisation Programme with Visits to SFRSA and Police Units

The Minister for Homeland Security and Civil Affairs, Mr. James Camille, continued his official familiarisation programme with visits to the Anse Royale Fire Station, the Public Order and Tactical Response Unit at Petit Paris, and the Scientific Support and Crime Record Bureau at Bois de Rose.

The purpose of these visits was to gain first-hand insight into the operations of the respective stations and units, to engage directly with officers, and to better understand their working environment, operational challenges, and priority needs. The Minister held constructive discussions with staff on service delivery, operational effectiveness, and opportunities for improvement.

Minister Tours Police Stations and Immigration Offices on Prasli

 
The Minister for Homeland Security and Civil Affairs Mr.James Camille , began his familiarisation visit on Praslin with stops at both Police Stations, Grande Anse and Baie Ste Anne where he met with officers and discussed ongoing operations, challenges and priority needs for the stations.
 
He then proceeded to the Immigration & Civil Identity Systems Office, meeting with staff and receiving a detailed briefing on the new office space that the department will soon occupy. This new facility will enable improved service delivery and greater efficiency for the Praslin community.
 
The Ministry thanks all officers and staff for their warm welcome and constructive engagements throughout the first day of the visit.

Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation with the European Union and France

The Minister for Homeland Security and Civil Affairs, Mr. James Camille, welcomed H.E. Mr. Oskar Benedikt, Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Seychelles, accompanied by Mrs. Anne Tallineau, Ambassador of France in the Republic of Seychelles, for a courtesy call last week.
The meeting provided an opportunity to reaffirm the strong partnership between Seychelles, the European Union, with discussions centred on ongoing bilateral cooperation, shared security priorities, and avenues to enhance collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
Minister Camille expressed appreciation for the continued support of both the EU and France, highlighting the importance of sustained engagement with Seychelles especially in areas of maritime security.

Minister Continues Familiarisation Visits With Stop at Immigration and Civil Identity Systems

The Minister for Homeland Security and Civil Affairs, Mr. James Camille, continued his ongoing programme of familiarisation visits with a stop at the Immigration and Civil Identity Systems  offices at Independence House. The visit forms part of the Ministry’s wider efforts to remain closely engaged with frontline agencies and ensure that essential public services are delivered efficiently and in alignment with national priorities.

Upon arrival, the Minister was welcomed by senior management and briefed on the department’s core functions, including border control operations, passport and ID services, residency permits, and the digital systems supporting civil identity management. The briefing highlighted both operational achievements and current challenges faced by officers, particularly during peak travel seasons and periods of increased public demand.

Minister Camille took the opportunity to engage directly with frontline staff, observing day-to-day operations and gaining firsthand insight into the processes that support national security, identity verification, and service delivery to citizens and visitors. Officers shared their experiences, from handling complex immigration cases to managing high customer volumes, as well as their ongoing efforts to uphold service standards while adapting to new technologies.

These familiarisation visits are part of a wider initiative to strengthen collaboration across departments, ensure that services remain responsive to public needs, and reinforce the Ministry’s commitment to effective and well-supported frontline operations.

Minister Highlights Rehabilitation, Safety and Training Excellence on Praslin

 
On the second day of his Praslin familiarisation visit, Minister James Camille visited the Youth Offenders Facility, where he spent meaningful time with the minors. He engaged with them openly, acknowledging their efforts and progress in rehabilitation. The Minister encouraged them to stay committed to positive change, offering words of guidance, motivation and support as they work towards reintegration and brighter futures.
 
The visit continued at the Seychelles Fire & Rescue Services Agency (SFRSA) Fire Station, where the Minister met with firefighters and received a briefing on their operational capacity, daily challenges and emergency response readiness on Praslin.
 
The Minister also attended the closing ceremony of the Hazardous Material Training, commending all participants for strengthening their specialised skills and contributing to enhanced national safety and resilience.
 
The Ministry extends its appreciation to all teams for their dedication and professionalism throughout the visit.

Minister Continues Familiarization Visits Across Key Security and Emergency Departments

On Thursday, 20 November, the Minister for Homeland Security and Civil Affairs Mr. James Camille continued his familiarization programme with a series of visits to key departments under the Ministries portfolio. The visits aim to strengthen inter-agency collaboration and provide the Minister with firsthand insight into operational needs.
 
The programme began at the Regional Fusion and Law Enforcement Centre for Safety and Security at Sea (Reflecs3), Regional Coordination Operations Centre (RCOC) and the National Information Sharing & Coordination Centre (NISCC) where the Minister received briefings on national security monitoring and information management.
 
He then proceeded to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to meet with investigators and discuss ongoing efforts to enhance investigative capability.
At the Remand Centre at Bois de Rose, the Minister engaged with Seychelles Prison Service officers and reviewed facility operations and staff welfare matters.
The final stop was the Seychelles Fire and Rescue Services Agency (SFRSA) Headquarters, where officers outlined response readiness, training initiatives and resource requirements.
 
Across all departments, the Minister met with officers, listened to their concerns, and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting front-line teams and improving coordination across the security and emergency response teams.
